You guys, I am having the best week of therapy. BEST. There is just something about the upcoming holiday season that makes everything…fun. Here are some things we have been up to this week in my CrAzY sPeEcH wOrLd!
First of all, I found this AWESOME YouTube Channel where you can find story book videos, and I found Gingerbread Man! This happened because I lost my Gingerbread Baby book. Lost. Gone. Sad. So I turned to YouTube to save the day, and it did. Woohoo!
The whole reason I discovered this video was because I found this AMAZING free packet from Primary Graffiti! I primed the vocabulary with her word cards and used these story props to have my students retell, describe, follow directions, and answer questions. I also used the sequencing and summarizing page with my second graders.
This book pairs perfectly with my Gingerbread Grammar packet, which I used for my students with those kinds of goals. I have tons of kids working on pronouns, this book is so great for that!
My older artic students (2-3) worked on these Gingerbread craftivity this week and they turned out so cute. So many of my artic students are also my language students, so these kinds of lessons are great for targeting both skills at the same time.
My little guys did something a little different. I made hundreds of little die-cut gingerbread men and printed out the winter scene from my December No Prep packet, then they took 5 gingerbread men and wrote one speech word on each, then glued them on their scene and colored. They loved it! They made up little stories and I loved listening to them <3 🙂
I hope you can use some of these activities in YOUR Crazy Speech World! What other gingerbread themed activities do you do?
