Can I tell you a sneaky secret? One of the best things about being in a new school is that I can pull out old therapy activities, and they don't know. They love it because it's new to them. And that my friends, makes my life just a little bit easier.
So of course we did the football craft. Write the speech words on the footballs, how many can you get? They like to be competitive, I like to make that work in my favor. Win win.
I also used some older downloads for language, like my It's Football Time download, as well as Jenna's Describing NFL Mascots and Carissa's Football Pursuit. These fit the needs of my new caseload perfectly. And then I have this GIANT load of phonological kids. I needed something different for them, so I created a new product to fit that need. It ended up being a winner, beyond my phono kids.
I targeted consonant cluster reduction, final consonant deletion, fronting, stopping, and multisyllabic words with this one, using minFimal pairs.
You can play this one a couple of different ways. With my little PK and K students, I just let them place they kids all over the field. Some liked going from one end zone to another, others were just scattered. They loved it!
For my older students, they practiced (and we even used other word lists for them) and then rolled a dice and moved their players up and down the field to score touchdowns. This was a HUGE hit, even for the super cool 4th graders.
I also included some open ended sheets, which you can use in sessions or to send home as homework, just attach some speech words!
You can find this packet in my TPT Store!
The week was great…and even better because we got to see our Noles play this weekend!
I hope you guys can use some of these activities in your speech world! Let me know what you think!
