This week, speech is gonna be outta this world!! We are doing an outer space theme and I am so excited about it! I have lots of fun stuff planned that I will share with you in full review at the end of the week…but until then, I am gonna sneak y'all a freebie! I am going to be using my Galaxy Grammar language pack, but I needed one more activity to target some vocabulary goals. So I came up with Aliens Attack!
There are 40 of these little purple guys running around Earth and your students must catch them! They have to identify the similarities and/or differences of the target words to keep the alien. Whoever has the most at the end is the winner!
Also included are 8 penalty cards…those sneaky aliens like to hide! You can choose whether or not to include these cards in your game, but I always find that they add some pizzazz 🙂
You can snag this freebie in my TPT store! If you do, please leave me a comment! I would love to hear what you think 🙂

Thanks Jenn for sharing! I love compare/contrast activities that aren’t obvious. My students struggle when the relationship isn’t that they are from the same category. Any activity that makes them think about other attributes (function, location, size, shape, color…) is great!

You’re welcome! Me too…getting them to think a little harder is a good thing!

This is a great activity, Jenn! The written words will challenge my students to generate more original responses since they won’t have picture cues to prompt answers. This activity will also come in handy with my fluency and artic students working on their skills at the sentence level. Thanks so much!

Thank you! That’s exactly what I was going for…stretching those little brains a bit 🙂 You’re welcome!

Love this activity! I have used this with my younger elementary students and just took out some of the harder comparisons. I also used it with my older students and altered the game just a little bit by writing points in the corner of the cards to add even more excitement. I also have My Practice Pockets from Super Duper in which I placed a simple Venn Diagram and had the students practice writing what was the same and different about the words and then stating it when they were done. The activity was a hit. Thanks for sharing!
