I know, I know, I already posted on Seuss this week…but I found something new and did it with the kids today and I just HAD to show you guys a couple of things….
Things!!! We made Thing 1 & 2 out of our hands! I just thought it was so adorable…I saw a pin on Pinterest that was handprint Things with paint…but I don't have time for paint…so I adapted it for my room. I took white construction paper and had the kids do a hamburger fold (short way) and trace their hand. Once the cut them out, they had two…one ofr the head and one for the body. For the body, you have to cut off one of the fingers! Then you glue together and color…THINGS!
Some of my kids got very creative…check out Thing 101 with the killer mustache! LOL. For speech, we wrote speech words from “The Cat In The Hat”, for language we did some opposites, rhyming words, and verbs. They LOVED making these…I think they all love the Things!
Another idea that sparked today was for one of the games in my March Open Ended Games packet. I happened to have some of these tiny labels, so I wrote two words on each to work on similarities and differences…as they made trees, they had to use complete sentences and good speech to compare and contrast. This worked great for one of my mixed groups (4th graders: 1 fluency, 1 artic carryover, 1 vocabulary goals). Just an idea!
If you aren't yet doing Seuss, I hope this gives you another idea or two! Tomorrow's agenda includes making oobleck, so check back for what I am sure will be fun pictures!
