This week has been all about the freezing temperatures…except that it has been in the 70’s and 80’s here, lol. Sometimes, my plans don’t work out so well 🙂 But nevertheless, my speech room was full of fun activities, we worked on Arctic & Antarctic Language, Arctic Articulation, read Polar Bear, Polar Beard and made igloos! The igloos were my craft this week, and was the first time I attempted this one. Happy to report that it was perfect!
This is a finished product! The first thing I did was cut the gray pattern from construction paper and a whole bunch of white squares/rectangles. I just chopped them up on the paper cutter with not much rhyme or reason.
Then the kiddos wrote words on them. For speech groups they did articulation words, but I also did this with a couple of language groups…we did synonyms, antonyms, and adjectives.
Once they got all their words on, they decorated! They got to draw pictures of all the animals we had been talking about during the week.
We ended up with some pretty cute homework to take home for more practice 🙂
What do you think? Building any igloos in your speech rooms?

This s VERY cute and I LOVE your Arctic Artic! 🙂

Thank you!!!
Excellent as always!
Thank you 🙂
Made artic igloos today – the kids, and myself had fun with it! Thanks for the idea.
WOOHOO! So happy to hear that 🙂 You’re welcome!!!
This is such a great idea! i think I’m going to use this for my “5-Minute Day” the next Monday we have (will which be on the 27th), but I’m going to have the students find pictures from circulars that have their sound in it and glue those on the “igloo”!
I’ve used this for the last couple of years in January and the kids always love it! Thanks for your ideas that are quick and easy to use.
That’s awesome Cheryl! I’m so glad to hear you can use them 🙂
