A great SLP Planner is extremely important for us to be able to do our jobs well. Here are four different planning tools I have successfully used to increase my organization skills over the years.
DIY SLP Planner
Several years ago, I couldn't find what I wanted as far as a planner to meet my needs for staying organized in my school-based job. I wanted something that was just for SLPs, but that didn't exist… so I created it! When I first created the SLP Planner, I just thought I was making it for myself and had no intentions of doing anything else with it. BUT, I shared it on social media and so many of you were interested in an SLP planner as well, so I ended up putting it in my TPT shop and it's been there for 10 years!
What I like about using this planner is it allows me to put it in any order I want, with whatever pages I want to use. I also really love all of the logs and paperwork tracking pages that are included. It worked so well for me (and so many of you!) that I never needed anything else to keep track of my school life. Simplified Planner
Because I am not just an SLP, but also a business owner and mom, I always liked to also have a personal planner. I didn't like the idea of only having one with all of my responsibilities because my brain just doesn't work that way. I used to really love Erin Condren planners until I met the Simplified Planner.
I like that I can get a daily version of this, with to-do lists and a schedule to help me keep my life on track. I also like that it is spiral bound so it lays flat, plus it gives me tons of room to write. And the cover designs are always gorgeous! They can be a bit on the pricey side, but I've got a $15 off coupon for you! Just click HERE.
Digital Planner
Last year, I dipped my toes into the digital planner pool. I had received an iPad with Apple Pencil as a gift, so I thought it would be a good way to try to organize. I purchased a digital planner from Etsy, where there are TONS of options. There were some things I really loved about it and some things I really didn't.
I liked that it was able to sync across all of my devices, so I could pull up my planner from my phone if I needed to. It was easy to navigate because the planner I purchased had lots of built-in buttons to move around the different pages. But it still felt a bit clunky to me. I especially didn't like that I had to remember to charge the iPad and Pencil because I am the worst at that! And I missed writing with my favorite pens š
But I do still use it for something things, mostly brainstorming and sketching out ideas and plans for projects.
Sticky Notes
I happen to think that sticky notes are one of the best inventions ever! But even better than that are, digital sticky notes! On Mac, they are called Stickies and they look just like the paper version. You can choose different colors to use, sizes, and fonts.
I keep a running list of computer tasks I need to do, like writing this blog post. Some weeks, I'll make a list of the days of the week and give myself reminders for specific days and won't even use my planner.
I'm basically non-committal to any one way of planning! I think there are so many great options out there and I like using more than one to help me stay organized.
